ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT: Things We Have In Common!
On the heels of our recent release of ‘Getting Reminders’ (ft. Beirut) and the European tour announcement, we are thrilled to announce the release of our 7th studio album titled ‘Things We Have In Common’.
Our new album will be released on September 27th, 2024, on City Slang Records and you can pre-order it now!
Alongside today's announcement, we are releasing our new single ‘Plant’ on all digital platforms. The song features Mabe Fratti on vocals and cello, along with Tatu Rönkkö (of Liima) on drums, Hector Tosta (of Titanic) on guitar, and Jarrett Gilgore on saxophone. We have co-written ‘Plant’ with our dear friend and former Efterklang member Rune Mølgaard who’s personal journey plays a significant role in the making of ‘Things We Have In Common’ (find more info on this further down). The song (and full album) has been mixed by Francesco Donadello.
We’ve been working on ‘Things We Have In Common’ on and off since December 2021 and we will be celebrating the album release with a special concert at the Barbican’s concert hall in London on October 5th, and of course, at all the other shows on the upcoming tour (get tickets).
The single release of ‘Plant’ is accompanied by a fascinating and amazing music video created by Søren Lynggaard and Niels Buhl Hendriksen which follows up on the creative play with still and live images we saw in the video for ‘Getting Reminders’ ft. Beirut.
'Plant’ is co-written with our dear friend Rune Mølgaard, who co-founded Efterklang with us more than 20 years ago. Rune left the band in 2007 but has since helped us from the sidelines in composing songs like 'Modern Drift' and 'Sedna'. On the new album, Rune has co-composed 7 out of 9 songs, and his personal story and journey in and out of the Mormon Church over the past many years have deeply influenced the album.
We love Rune and we are so proud of him and what we have created together on 'Things We Have In Common'. We can't wait for you to listen to it. You can read more about Rune’s journey and the new album in our new bio written by Ralf Christensen.
