Releasing Hope - new short film scored by Efterklang!

The film premieres today (now!) and it’s been a complete honor and privilege to work on this project for and together with World Mosquito Program and Flow Creative. The 4:30 minute long film aims to tell a universal story of hope using no words at all, which made composing the score both challenging and extra important.

Mosquito-borne diseases kill more than 1 million people and infect up to 700 million each year – 1 in 10 people globally. Dengue is the fastest spreading mosquito-borne disease in the world, infecting 400 million people every year. Studies predict over 8 billion people could be at risk of malaria and dengue by 2080.

The World Mosquito Program is pioneering the fight against deadly mosquito-borne diseases with its groundbreaking Wolbachia method – a chemical free, proven safe and natural solution with the potential to save millions of lives worldwide. Wolbachia blocks viruses like dengue, chikungunya and Zika from growing in the bodies of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This means that Wolbachia mosquitoes have a much reduced ability to transmit viruses to people. World Mosquito Program now works in 15 countries, protecting more than 16 million people across Asia, Oceania and the Americas. You can read much more about the film and the important work done by World Mosquito Program on their website.
