Happy New Year! Free Remix and New Video!

Friday, December 31st, 2010

We hope you had a fantastic 2010 and we hope your 2011 will be even better!

To celebrate the new year we are hereby giving you a new free remix of Raincoats made by Kasper Winding and also a video featuring the (almost) original version of Raincoats and footage from the Danish web series Robin Färdig by Danish director Daniel Kragh-Jacobsen.

Listen to Raincoats (Kasper Winding Remix)

Download Raincoats (Kasper Winding Remix) here. We suggest that you add this remix to the playlist for your party tonight!

Raincoats + Robin Färdig Video

The entire Robin Färdig web series can be watched at dr.dk/pirattv. Raincoats is the theme song for the series and the Raincoats video gives you a glimpse of the Robin Färdig world. Currently there is no international version of the series but if you understand Danish we recommend the series – it is fun and brings back memories of the troubled times in high school.

Before we say goodbye we want to give you these four recommendations of some of our favorite albums released in 2010.
Casper liked Murder – Gospel of Man a lot
Thomas liked M.I.A – Maya a lot
Rasmus liked Clogs – The Creatures in the Garden of Lady Walton a lot
Mads liked Owen Pallett – Heartland a lot

Have lots of FUN tonight and take care of each other and the rockets.
Thanks for another great year!

Mads, Casper, Thomas & Rasmus

Efterkids update

Monday, October 18th, 2010

www.EFTERKIDS.com has been online for a week now and we already got a lot of nice coverage (like: DrownedinSound, Filter, Pitchfork). Thanks to all you guys who have spend time watching the videos and shared the info.

We don’t have an recent update on how much have been donated (as this is managed by 4AD in NYC) but we are expecting that we are close to the first goal which is a new computer and composer software for the Special Music School. Any donation no matter size is still welcome via www.efterkids.com

In the recent week we have also been in contact with good people in Brussels and Eindhoven. It looks like two new Efterkids performances are close to be confirmed! We look forward to share those news with you soon.

We also just uploaded the Efterkids performances to YouTube. But we still prefer you watch the videos at www.EFTERKIDS.com

Efterkids, watch, donate & support Music Education

Monday, October 11th, 2010

It´s an honour for us to introduce our new project EFTERKIDS!

This weekend www.efterkids.com launched and same time our open invitation for talented kids around the world to join Efterkids.

Efterkids is an attempt to raise awareness of the need for music education in public schools and same time collaborate with talented kids across the globe. We are also hoping to raise some money for the cause and maybe you would consider donating? It would make us and a lot of kids very happy.

None of us in Efterklang have ever studied music on a higher level. Had it not been for encouraging music teachers in our public schools we would never have been where we are today. However that’s just one little positive outcome of music education in public schools. Several studies show that music education in schools has a major impact on kids. It fosters success in school life, social life and just life overall in fact. If you want to read up on this subject, then this link is a good place to start.

Efterkids took its beginning in February 2010. Here we collaborated with 6 talented kids from the Special Music School (P.S. 859) in New York. The collaboration can be seen on video at www.efterkids.com. You can watch Efterklang & Efterkids perform Full Moon and Natural Tune. All very high tech as we were projected on a screen behind the kids and the communication took place via Skype.

As mentioned we are hoping to raise some money and the first project is to help The Special Music School to raise money for a computer and composer software for the kids. If you feel this is something you would like to donate money for, then please visit www.efterkids.com and simply press the donate button and select an amount you wish to donate.

Besides the two videos and the donation part www.efterkids.com also holds course material (scores, mp3s with string and without strings) for Natural Tune and Full Moon. And we are hereby inviting string playing kids and their teachers around the world to join Efterkids. Since our collaboration with the kids from The Special Music School we have collaborated with 6 kids from the Duisburg area for this years Traumzeit Festival and we have several other Efterkids events coming up. We would love to have more kids involved. You can play with us in your classrooms or at a special Efterkids event. Everything goes. Its all for fun, free and a good cause.

That’s it about Efterkids for now! We hope you will welcome this new project!

Efterklang & Oh No Ono remix swap and SUMMER greeting VIDEO!

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

More free remixes to offer! And this time also a nice video to celebrate summer and this new remix swap. Oh No Ono is a superb band and we were happy not only to do a remix swap but also to jump in the cold Danish water with them!

The remix they have made for Modern Drift was done in their tour bus in one day on a drive from Cologne to Paris! We copied that idea, but it took us many many kilometers before we nailed our remix of their Icicles song.

The video was filmed by Kristian Sidelmann and by Andreas Munksgaard who also did the editing.

Watch our 4AD Session from Store VEGA!

Friday, February 26th, 2010

We are very happy about this session. We filmed in VEGA our favorite venue in our favorite hometown Copenhagen. We recorded 4 songs live on the floor of Store VEGA (their biggest concert hall). We formed a circle and it was a special feeling playing in the nice room just for ourselves.

We play in this same room April 17th, when our Magic Chairs tour swings by Copenhagen.

Happy New Year Video Postcard! with 4 audio snippets!

Friday, January 1st, 2010

Hope you’re all enjoying yourself with family, champagne, coffee, friends, painkillers or whoever or whatever is around you today. Our tiny band have completely split up, for the cause of holiday, being literally spread all over the world. Thomas in Thailand, Rasmus in Istanbul, Casper in Toronto and Mads taking care of business in Copenhagen.

Guess we needed a little break from each other or just simply a little time with someone else. After all, we’ve been seeing the world collectively nearly everyday for the past couple of years, and very soon we’ll be joining forces again (tour dates 2010).

Wow! An entire decade just passed by, and the slipstream of nostalgia just reached our shore. From the view from our nose tips, it’s been a very very special one! Mainly because there was no Efterklang a decade ago, and secondly because we’re having the time of our life!

Lets look ahead. Just around the corner, on February 22nd (23rd in the US) 2010, we’ll release our 3rd studio album: Magic Chairs, coming out on our very own Rumraket label in Scandinavia and our brand new home 4AD in the rest of the world.

We’re ULTRA EXCITED to present it for you!!!

Here is a Happy New Year Video Postcard from our 4 corners of the world to all of you sweet people. The postcard includes 4 snippets of songs from Magic Chairs. Enjoy!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU & YOURS. SEE YOU SOOOOON!!!

Rasmus, Mads, Thomas, Casper
