We are proud and happy to present these two new videos. Please give them 10 minutes of your time. We promise that it will be worthwhile. Both videos are a piece of art in their own right.
The video for Black Summer is made by Everything All at Once, a new Vancouver, CA based studio consisting of Kevan Funk and Benjamin Loeb.
The video for Between The Walls is made by the Copenhagen based director Sebastian Birk. The video features Sara Hjort and Peter Hald in the leading roles.
Both songs are taken from our Piramida album from September 2012.
Today we embark on a 5 week tour, that will be our final longer tour for a long time to come. Catch us if you can. Dates can be foundhere.
Hope you will enjoy the videos.

After more than 1000 screenings around the world since November last year THE GHOST OF PIRAMIDA has finally been released digitally.
Andreas Koefoed’s Efterklang film is available for online renting(3,70€) or download(11€) via Vimeo’s new on-demand service.
In The Ghost Of Piramida director Andreas Koefoed follows Efterklang on their 9 day audio expedition to the ghost town Piramida on Spitsbergen, located just a thousand kilometers from the North Pole and home to more polar bears than people.
Accompanied by their taciturn and not visibly impressed Russian polar bear guard, the group goes on a treasure hunt in the empty buildings of the ghost town, while the narrator, the former Piramida-citizen Alexander, takes us back to a bygone era, when Piramida flourished and the immigrant Russian miners and their families lived in a Soviet parallel society far from the brutal reality of their homeland.
Efterklang collected over a thousand sound recordings for the album ‘Piramida’ (4AD, Sep 2012) they later wrote and recorded in Berlin.
The music in the film incorporates some of the early sketches, as well as finished songs from the album.
This new video for ‘Monument’ by Andreas Koefoed and Hvass&Hannibal marks the 1 year anniversary of the release of our 4th album ‘Piramida‘ of which ‘Monument’ is the closing song.
It also honours ‘The Piramida Concert‘, the live album we released June 10th 2013 together with the classical orchestra Copenhagen Phil.
And further it marks the digital release of Andreas Koefoed’s Efterklang documentary ‘The Ghost of Piramida‘. On Friday, September 27th, ‘The Ghost of Piramida‘ will be made available for online renting and download at vimeo.com/ondemand/piramida. Pre-order of the film is already available.
Thats a lot of celebration and referencing for just one video, but let us explain how it is all connected.
Both recordings of ‘Monument‘ are featured in this music video. First half of the uses the album version of the song and then follows the live version of ‘Monument’ from ‘The Piramida Concert’.
The 8mm footage used in the video is filmed by Alexander Ivanovic Naumkin, who lived in Piramida (Pyramiden) for many years and who plays a leading role in Andreas Koefoed’s film ‘The Ghost of Piramida’.
The music video features clips from ‘The Ghost of Piramida’ documentary and also artwork and animations by Hvass&Hannibal, who also did all the artwork for ‘Piramida’ and ‘The Piramida Concert’ releases.
No one, but Nan Na and Sofie (of Hvass&Hannibal) and Andreas could have made this video. They have been some of our closest and must trusted collaborators on this entire Piramida project. The others are Francesco Donadello and our live band: Martyn Heyne, Tatu Rönkkë, Katinka Fogh Vindelev, Budgie and Peter Broderick + crew: Anders Boll, Stuart Bailes and Nico de Rooij.
Happy 1 year Anniversary!
Hope you enjoyed the video and please enjoy the film on Friday.
The Piramida tour is coming to an end, but we hope to see you at one of the last shows. In the near future we will visit Germany, UK, Ireland, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bucharest, Slovakia, Austria, Poland, Malaysia, Korea, China, Hong Kong and Norway. And then it all ends with a very special concert together with Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester February 26th 2014 on Als in Denmark where we grew up and where An Island was filmed. More info here.
* please note that the US release date is June 18th 2013.
HAPPY RELEASE DAY!
We are so happy with this live album. Since the debut in Sydney Opera House a little over a year ago we have played 18 of these Piramida Concerts with different and amazing orchestras across the globe. To have it materialise into this live album The Piramida Concert with Copenhagen Phil is a beautiful thing for us. It feels great. We want to thank Copenhagen Phil and conductor André de Ridder for making this possible and we are also sending lots of love to Karsten Fundal and Missy Mazzoli who arranged the songs for orchestra.
The Piramida Concert will only be available digitally and as a limited edition deluxe double gatefold vinyl (one black, one white + CD inside), designed by Danish artists Hvass&Hannibal.
The live album is available now in all good record stores and also through our own webshop shop.efterklang.net.
Here is a nice little presentation of the vinyl edition:
One of our personal favorites on the new live album is the track THE LIVING LAYER + VÆLV, which as the titel suggests actually is two songs. The Living Layer by Efterklang and Vælv written by Karsten Fundal. You can listen to this via Soundcloud.
Some official info for you about this new release: The Piramida Concert by Efterklang & Copenhagen Phil was recorded live at Copenhagen’s Royal Academy of Music Concert Hall in October 2012. Over the course of two sold-out nights Efterklang – plus Peter Broderick, Katinka Fogh Vindelev and Budgie (Siouxsie and The Banshees) – teamed up with classical orchestra Copenhagen Phil and German conductor André de Ridder to perform the Danish act’s fourth album Piramida in its entirety. Staged for the first time at the Sydney Opera House in May 2012, the orchestral arrangements were written by fellow Dane Karsten Fundal and New York composer Missy Mazzoli. The Piramida Concert also features ‘So’, a song written during recording sessions for Piramida, and ‘Vælv’, a classical piece commissioned by Efterklang and composed by Karsten Fundal. The live performance was mixed to tape by Francesco Donadello in the Vox-Ton studio in Berlin.. The Piramida Concert will only be available digitally and as a limited edition deluxe double gatefold vinyl (one black, one white + CD inside).
We are so happy with this new video! Directed by Spanish filmmaker Victor Carrey, The Ghost tells the surreal story of the curse that befalls anyone carrying an ancient amulet.
Watch The Ghost here:
For those who can’t see the YouTube version we recommend the Vimeo version.
We first met Victor Carrey in 2011 when Casper and I (Rasmus) were invited to be part of the jury for the FIB Cortos film festival in Benicassim, Spain. The winning film was Carrey’s La Huida (aka The Runaway). One the final night of celebration we decided to make a film together and The Ghost is the result. Enjoy!
The Ghost is taken from our fourth album, Piramida, out now.

The Rules for hosting a Private-Public Screening are very simple. If you are a private person or non profit organisation you can host a Private-Public Screening of the film. You need to be able to accommodate minimum 5 people and entrance has to be kept free. You can read much more about the details at the project here: theghostofpiramida.com/host-a-screening.
Below you can watch the trailer for the film and some photos from Private-Public Screenings from around the world.
Greetings everyone. We got a nice little selection of news for you!
We are a week into our North American Tour and we are having a really good time. Thanks to everyone who came out for the shows this past week. Today we play in Denton, TX and from here on we continue west. All dates can be found here: EFTERKLANG on TOUR
How One Band Turned a Ghost Town into a Giant Recording Studio. Yesterday NPR (US National Public Radio) aired a 7 minute piece on our recent album Piramida. We are very happy with the radio piece and you should take a listen if you have time - LISTEN/READ.
Today we also want to thank the many cool people who already have or about to host a Private-Public Screening of The Ghost of Piramida. There are more than 500 confirmed screenings now. Very cool! The project runs until March 24th. You can sign up to host your own screening in here: theghostofpiramida.com/host-a-screening.
We are also happy to announce that we have been nominated for P3 Prisen – one of Denmark’s most important Music Awards. The award will be given to the winner at a big TV show on March 27th. We will play live and it will be broadcasted on danish TV station DR3.
Here is a photo by Eddie Kim from when we visited NPR´s Tiny Desk Concert project some days ago. Keep your eyes open for this to air :-)
Last time we ran the Private-Public Screenings project almost 1.200 people hosted their own screening of An Island, our collaborative film with Vincent Moon. We still look back at that and consider it one of the most fun and interesting times we’ve had as a band. We are now hoping to repeat this and we welcome all of you to host a screening of The Ghost of Piramida.
THE GHOST OF PIRAMIDA – PRIVATE-PUBLIC SCREENINGS – RULES AND GUIDE
The rules are very simple. In order to host a screening, each event must adhere to the following:
• The screenings need to be free entry
• The screenings need to be public
• The screenings need to have a minimum capacity of 5 people
• The screenings need to be verified by Efterklang & Andreas Koefoed (only screenings that are featured on www.theghostofpiramida.com are official Private-Public Screenings)
In other words as long as the host is a private person, entrance is free and it is an open event (as capacity permits) the Private-Public Screenings can take place at a home, at a café, in a school auditorium – basically, anywhere.
Those planning to host screenings in their own homes will be able to have full control over who can attend.
