On a Special Instrument Found and Used on Piramida

August 14, 2012 by Rasmus

Today we would like to share a few photos with you. They are photos of a special instrument we found on our expedition to Piramida on Spitsbergen (aka Pyramiden on Svalbard) back in August 2011. We spent 9 days in this Arctic ghost town (just a 1000 KMs from the North Pole) collecting sounds and inspiration for the album we would afterwards write and record in Berlin.

The very first sound and melody you hear on our new song Hollow Mountain is recorded live on this instrument and samples from it are used throughout the rest of the song. We nicknamed this instrument Miss Piggy. It was one of our most favorite discoveries in the ghost town.

Hollow Mountain is the opening song on our forthcoming 4th album entitled Piramida which will be released on 4AD and Rumraket September 24th 2012 (25th in the US). Pre-Order of Piramida available here.

We wanted to tell you about this now, because tomorrow you’ll be able to listen to our new song Hollow Mountain. We hope you´ll like it.

We just got home today and we were smiling all the way in the plane because this recent North American Tour has been absolutely amazing!

Thanks to everybody that came out to see us play. In total we did 27 concerts including 4 concerts at SXSW in Austin, Texas. We have played a lot of new songs on this tour and we look forward to record them soon – thanks for welcoming the new songs so kindly.

We would also like to send a special thanks to Heather Broderick, Peter Broderick and Daniel James aka Canon Blue for being in our live-band for this tour. You guys are incredible musicians and persons – THANKS!

A big thanks also goes to our new friend Todd Eskridge who engineered all the shows on this tour perfectly! We would also want to thank all the local bands that opened up for us all the venues and promoters.

We are very thankful today because we have millions of things to be thankful for!

Take Care!
Casper, Mads, Thomas and Rasmus

PS. We have just updated our photo blog at Flickr.com – Most of the pictures from this recent North American tour have been uploaded now. Have a look right here.

December 8, 2008 by Barnabas

Hi All
We’ve just updated our photo blog with pictures from our last tour of the year:
Efterklang Photo Blog

Also, we want to send out a big thanks to the incredible audience at An Club, Athens, GR, for giving us such a nice “last show of the year”, despite of the horrible thing happening just outside!

We’ll start looking into new songs now and prepare ourself for future adventures, so for the next months and during the winter we’ll stay at home in Copenhagen and empty our heads.

THANKS ONCE AGAIN TO ALL OF YOU AMAZING PEOPLE SHOWING UP AT OUR CONCERTS AROUND THE GLOBE DURING THE LAST 14 MONTHS, AND TO ALL OF YOU SENDING US SWEET WORDS & THOUGHTS! IT’S BEEN MAGICAL, AND WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!!

Much much love
Mads, Thomas, Rasmus, Casper, Frederik, Niklas, Anna, Peter, Heather

Parades Concert Diary #2 – September 10th

September 19, 2008 by Barnabas

Hi all

A little late, but here’s an update on our preparations for the Parades Concert in Copenhagen, Day#2!

Today was really exciting, as this was our very first rehearsal with the whole orchestra. We tried 4 of the more “difficult” songs/arrangements, and the experience was overwhelming!!!
It’s hard to describe, but listening to the music for the first time played by an orchestra all together, feels so right. This first big rehearsal, was mostly about listening and getting used to the sound and general feel of the orchestra – so we were all waiting like small boys at the candy shop window:)

Can’t wait till next week, witch will be packed with rehearsals and preparations, up until the big concert day on Friday, September 26th!

You can read more about the concert here and buy tickets on BilletNet.dk (DA/EN)

Here’s a couple of Photo’s from the day:

The first sheet prints

it’s hard to get all in the picture, when there’re so many people, and your camera is way to small…
