Soundvenue.com is hosting the documentary on their site for a week. Recreating Parades takes you behind the scene of the Performing Parades Concert we did last year with The Danish National Chamber Orchestra.
The documentary can also be found on our newest release Performing Parades and it is made by Ralf Christensen and Anders Bøtter.
Here’s a sneak preview from our forthcoming CD/DVD and 2LP/DVD release (October 19th 2009) performing Parades. Recorded in Copenhagen with The National Danish Chamber Orchestra
The CD/DVD and LP/DVD features the complete performance with The Danish National Chamber Orchestra in audio format + a 55-minute concert film directed by Benjamin Hesselholdt. The DVD also includes a behind the scenes documentary (with English and Danish subtitles) of the preparations for the event + a lot of other bonus material.
For those of you who haven’t heard it yet, we’re Performing Parades with the Britten Sinfonia on October 28th in Barbican Hall in London, UK. The splendid Norwegian collective Jaga Jazzist have been named as support for the concert in a very rare UK performance, so this looks like an extremely exciting evening!
Also, we’re doing a month long tour of “regular” shows after the London date around the UK, Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Turkey (yep, we finally making our way to Istanbul!) previewing tracks from our third studio album, to be released by 4AD next year. You can find the (almost) complete tour right here
We are very happy to announce that we will be touring in Denmark this November as part of the brilliant CPH:DOX documentary film festival.
At all of these 4 concerts we will first show the Performing Parades concert film directed by Benjamin Hesselholdt and then after a short break we will play live as a 7-piece band focusing on new material from our upcoming third studio album (out in 2010).
September 6th we played an absolutely lovely and new festival called Into The Great Wide Open. The festival took place on the tiny island Vlieland (see google map below) in the Wadden sea outside the shore of northern Holland.
Hello! as you might know we will release Performing Parades our new CD&DVD & LP/DVD (live album and concert film) on October 19th 2009. The release is a collaboration with The Danish National Chamber Orchestra and everything was recorded live in Copenhagen last year.
In Denmark the release will be available via our own record label Rumraket

In rest of the world the release will be available via The Leaf Label

The release is a new and live interpretation of our Parades album from 2007. The CD & LP part of Performing Parades holds the live audio of Efterklang & The Danish National Chamber Orchestra playing the songs from Parades from start to finish in new arrangements. In many ways we actually think this version of Parades is stronger and better than the original Parades album.
The DVD part of this release holds a 55-minute concert film by Benjamin Hesselholdt entitled Performing Parades. The DVD also holds a 35-minute behind the scenes documentary entitled Recreating Paradesby Ralf Christensen and Anders Bøtter. On top of all this you also get 6 music videos from the original Parades album and also an acoustic live performance of Mirador. We hope you will find all of this interesting!
We should also mention that we will be TOURING MOST OF THE FALL AS A 7-PIECE! click here for dates
Included in the tour is a PERFORMING PARADES CONCERT with BRITTEN SINFONIA in BARBICAN HALL, LONDON on October 28th – click here for tickets
AND FINALLY – This is how the front cover will look like! It is made by our favorite designers/artists Hvass&Hannibal
When we attendend the SXSW Festival in Austin back in March one of the shows we played was a lawn party hosted by Other Music and Dig For Fire. It was in a nice green garden behind the French Legation Museum and besides a very stressed performance due to technical issues it was such a nice day.
The nice people from Dig For Fire just emailed us to say that their videos from the party now are online at Babelgum.com. If you follow this link you can see one of the episodes featuring yours truly and J Tillman of Fleet Foxes.
One of our songs is used in this wonderful and award winning documentary and outtakes from In a Dream was used for our Cutting Ice To Snow video.
The documentary has been screened at a vast number of film festivals over the last year and now finally you can see also go see it in a cinema! You have to be in USA to do so though… You can get all the info at their website – inadreammovie.com
as you know we are touring North America these days and therefore we have created a special Tour-EP to sell at the shows. It carries 6 live recordings and comes in handmade packaging. We have only made 250 copies of these and they can only be bought at our American shows…
enjoy!!
Monday we went to a military base outside Copenhagen, together with 25 other fine people to record a music video for our song Caravan
The video is directed by Anders Morgenthaler and produced by CopenhagenBombay. In short, it features a spooky clown, 4 fantastic kids and 28 mega-explosions. More photos at our flickr site.
On a sidenote! Today our new album Parades got a 10/10 review at DrownedinSound.com. According to them Parades is a masterpiece! Nice!
It is about a week ago now, when Ingmar Bergman passed away on the small island Farö, in his native country Sweden. To watch and feel Bergman´s work means a lot to me, and I felt touched to hear these sad sad news…
These are a couple of recommendations for all of you not familiar with his work: Persona (watch the intro sequence below), Fanny & Alexander og Wild Strawberries
