Magic Chairs - our new album! - listen to new song!
November 19th, 2009 by rasmusToday we can announce the release date, tracklist, artwork and title of our new album! We are also happy to tell you that you can download the opening song for free right now!
February 22nd 2010 we will release our third full length album and we are exited! We’re calling this new baby for Magic Chairs and we are curious to find out how you will like it as it definitely introduces a new Efterklang sound.
We have been working on the album since January 2009 and we have played and tested several of the new songs on the road throughout the year on our different tours. We recorded the album in Feedback Recording studio in Århus and in Black Tornado, STC Studio and our own studio (all three) in Copenhagen. The record is mixed by our new friend Gareth Jones (Depeche Mode, Nick Cave & Grizzly Bear) and I think we dare to say that we are very proud of it!
Magic Chairs is our first album on our new home 4AD. This fine and legendary label will release Magic Chairs across the globe except for Scandinavia where we will release the album on our own Rumraket label.

All I can say is ‘congratulations!’. Keep up on the good work, guys. The new song is amazing and I’m pretty sure that the rest of the album will be even better.

I’m an absolute fan of Efterklang live, but I don’t like the albums: there’s so many people playing on them (choirs, orchestras…) that one often wonder where the band actually is. “Modern Drift” is the first time that I dig an Efterklang studio song as much as their live shows. Wish all the album is from the same barrel…
PS: I think that Laime Ithil wanted to say “terrific” and of course not “terrible”…

Will Magic Chairs be pressed on vinyl? I heard some of this during your last Portland show, but it will be interesting to see what the final recorded versions are like, and what I remember. Good luck on 4AD!

but what about the song you played exclusively for us in Paris (well maybe you played it other times since but Casper said it was a first then), The Lightning, it’s not on the album? (maybe I misunderstood the title and it actually is)
I thought it was a really great one, I hope it will find its place on a future release
and pleaaaase please please as soon as the album is out, come back in France, we’ll celebrate that! your last gig in Paris was just three weeks ago but I can’t stop thinking about the next time. When I first saw you in 2008 I had just discovered Parades, listened to it maybe two or three times tops, and at the end of the show I thought you might be the best live band I had ever seen… so last time, at la Maroquinerie, I just wanted you to confirm this first impression and you couldn’t have done it more brilliantly! It seems you blew everybody’s mind in there, according to what I heard as I went out. so, remember that Paris loves you and misses you! see you very soon!
